WAS SABBATH GIVEN AT MOUNT SINAI?
We were all taught that the Torah was given at Mt. Sinai. Let's go to a Scripture to see if that is true.
Exodus 16 is about the people taking a rest on the Kadosh Shabbat to YHVH.. verse 23.
Wait a minute. This is Exodus 16 and the Commandments were not given until Mt. Sinai in Exodus 20, weren't they?
Exodus 16 writes about the Israelites resting on the Sabbath and not working. That is before Mt. Sinai.
What I and others believe is that the Torah has been around before the creation of the universe. Therefore, Adam and Eve would have known about the Sabbath, as would Noah, who knew the difference between clean and unclean animals. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob also knew the Commandments in the Torah.
When YHVH said the Sabbath was to be kept forever, I believe that it was since the creation as YHVH rested on the 7th day of creation. So the Sabbath was in existence in the Garden of Eden and not given at Mt. Sinai. They were just written down and Moses instructed the people.
"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the Only Eloah,
be honor and glory forever and ever. Amein!"
